Good Evening, Amsterdam

Wherever you are, take a six and a half minute break and watch this. The music is perfect. The story: delightful. I'd watch a feature length film in this style.

Our last night in town we took a walk to find the 15 Bridges spot. I'm not sure we found it but we did find a full moon, at least 9 bridges in view at once, a sweet red car, a sweet red vespa, a cute overpriced cafe and a place to eat.

Amsterdam on the Inside

Want to come shopping and restaurant touring?

Don't mind if I do.

These funny fruit stands made me think of my time living on Portsmouth. My roommate Hannah was always bringing home strange new fruits to try. I was having none of that. I'll stick to bananas, thank you.

Reminiscent of my time in LA at The Griddle. Y-U-M.

All their hot chocolates came in shake glasses. Tall whipped creamy deliciousness.

Amsterdam in the Snow

The moment we arrived in Amsterdam the air was filled with swirling snow. It was beautiful and picturesque and not a little difficult to walk in. We wandered around looking for a place to eat after my pancake destination was completely packed. We found a restaurant with no visible name, which Chris proclaimed must mean that it has amazing food. Whatever his logic was for that, he wasn't far off. We warmed up with amazing hot chocolates and a good hearty brunch before heading to the hotel.

The stairs up to our second floor hotel room were insane. When we walked through the restaurant we went to later that night I realized they also were the norm in the tiny row houses of Amsterdam but wow. Tight and steeeep.

Rembrandt's windows.

The Van Gogh museum was under construciton so they relocated the entire collection for the time being to the Hermitage museum which, to my delight, also housed an impression impressionist collection, my favorite style of painting.

Can someone please pull that dress out of the painting and then also give me an occasion to wear it?

A Presidential Photobomb to Brighten Your Day

Share photos on twitter with Twitpic

I don't care whether you like him or don't, agree with his stance on things or not. Photobombs are funny.

Right now I need a little funny. Today itself isn't a bad day. But yesterday morning was. Even on "vacation" I was feeling down. What is wrong with me? Even writing this I feel like a brat. So I'm going to just stop right now. I just couldn't write all happy today so this is what we're doing: watching a girl ruin a romantic photo op of her parents :)

Berlin, the Finale

After the museums and the memorials and the wall, we did see a lot more of Berlin. And now you get to as well.

Get ready for some Berlin Bear silliness. Feel free to judge, no one was out on the streets while I was out doing these and I feel like I missed some part of being a goofball in public.

How could we go to Germany and not get Chris a bratwurst?? So we did. That's the only answer to that question.

We loved us some Brandenburg gate. Obviously.

Where's waldo*?        *Kelly

For dinner we went to a recommended spot by Chris' friend Alex: White Trash Fast Food. The name almost deterred us but I read reviews and away we went. Sooooo good. I had chips and guac, chili, mashed potatoes and green beans with bacon and then a gigantic brownie with walnuts to top it off. Yes. On purpose. So so so so good. I'd go back just for that food.

We made it to the airport with plenty of time to spare this time. I got 200 tic tacs and a macaroni salad. Chris got this:

More adventures to come this weekend and then we're working on our next travel adventure. Nothing set up until Seville (!) the first weekend in March. Maybe we'll take a break until then....probably not.

Have wonderful weekends!
